Welcome to Mohr Aquatics!
Mohr Aquatics is my little corner of the aquarium hobby, where I share my experiences breeding freshwater fish, building DIY aquarium systems, experimenting with 3D printing, and growing a small fish-breeding operation from the ground up.
What started as a passion for keeping aquariums has grown into something much bigger. Today, I'm working on expanding my fish room, breeding new species, improving my equipment, and finding creative ways to make fishkeeping easier and more enjoyable.
Along the way, I'm documenting the projects, successes, challenges, and lessons learned.
Fish Breeding & the Fish Room
Fish breeding is at the heart of Mohr Aquatics.
From Rainbow Shiners and Corydoras to Cherry Barbs and freshwater shrimp, I'm continually working with different species, learning about their breeding behaviors, and developing better ways to raise healthy fish.
My fish room is constantly evolving. New tanks, improved filtration, automated water changes, and custom-built breeding systems are all part of the process.
The goal is to create a practical, efficient setup that allows me to spend more time enjoying the fish and less time maintaining equipment.
DIY Projects & 3D Printing
One of my favorite parts of the hobby is finding solutions to everyday aquarium challenges.
I use 3D printing, PVC plumbing, and simple DIY projects to build equipment that fits my specific needs. Sometimes that means designing something from scratch, and other times it means modifying an existing design or finding a clever way to use something that's already available.
Through the website and YouTube channel, I share these projects, provide downloads of my own 3D-printing files, and link to other creators whose designs I've found useful.
You don't need an engineering background or an expensive workshop to make useful things for your aquariums. A little creativity and a willingness to experiment can go a long way.
Building Something From the Ground Up
Mohr Aquatics is also about the journey of turning a hobby into a small business.
I'm learning as I go, expanding my breeding operation, improving my systems, and exploring opportunities to make the fish room more productive and sustainable.
Not every project works perfectly the first time, and that's part of what I want to share.
Whether it's a successful spawn, a new piece of equipment, or something that needs to be redesigned, I want to document the real process of building and improving this operation.
