Building a Fish Room,
One Project at a Time.
Breeding freshwater fish, raising fry, building better systems, and sharing the process along the way.
Where the Work Happens
Welcome to the Mohr Aquatics fish room!
This is where most of the action happens. From breeding freshwater fish and raising fry to designing custom equipment and improving water management, there's always something going on.
My goal is to build a fish room that's efficient, practical, and capable of supporting a growing fish-breeding operation.
I'm constantly experimenting with new ideas, improving existing systems, and figuring out what works best. Some projects are simple weekend upgrades, while others take a little more planning, trial and error, and creativity.
And I'm documenting the process along the way.
Fish Breeding & Raising Fry
Breeding fish is at the heart of Mohr Aquatics.
I'm currently working with several freshwater species, including Rainbow Shiners, Corydoras, Cherry Barbs, and freshwater shrimp.
Each species presents its own challenges, from encouraging spawning and collecting eggs to hatching and raising healthy fry.
One of my biggest ongoing projects has been developing a dedicated fry-raising system that makes it easier to manage multiple groups of young fish while keeping maintenance manageable.
Using a combination of off-the-shelf aquarium equipment and custom 3D-printed components, I've been able to build a system that fits the way I work.
DIY Equipment & Automation
As the number of aquariums grows, so does the amount of time required to maintain them.
That's why I've made DIY equipment and automation such an important part of the fish room.
Rather than purchasing a separate solution for every tank, I look for ways to build systems that serve multiple aquariums and simplify everyday maintenance.
Some of these projects include:
These projects aren't necessarily about building the most complicated system possible. They're about finding practical solutions that work reliably and make fishkeeping more enjoyable.
Water Quality & Filtration
Water quality is one of the most important parts of maintaining a healthy breeding operation.
As the fish room has expanded, I've continued upgrading the systems that supply and manage water throughout the aquariums.
That includes RO/DI filtration for preparing water, centralized plumbing, and equipment designed to simplify routine water changes.
I share these projects because many aquarium keepers face the same challenges, whether they're maintaining a few tanks at home or building a dedicated fish room.

Follow the Fish Room on YouTube
The fish room is always changing, and the best way to see what's happening is through the Mohr Aquatics YouTube channel.
I share videos covering fish breeding, DIY builds, 3D printing, aquarium equipment, and the ongoing process of growing Mohr Aquatics.
You'll see the projects as they happen, including the things that work, the things that don't, and the improvements I make along the way.
Thanks for following along!
